(New Bern, North Carolina) – CarolinaEast Medical Center is pleased to announce it has once again achieved Pathway to Excellence® designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. This prestigious, evidence-based designation identifies the presence of six practice standards and substantiates nursing job satisfaction at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
CarolinaEast first became designated as a Pathway to Excellence® facility in 2017 for a three-year term and recently became redesignated until 2024. The Pathway designation is a global credential that highlights CarolinaEast’s commitment to creating a healthy work environment where nurses feel empowered and valued. Pathway nurses are engaged, resulting in higher job satisfaction, reduced turnover, improved safety, and better patient outcomes.
For an organization to earn the Pathway to Excellence® distinction, it must successfully undergo a thorough review process that documents the six foundational standards which are quality, professional development, safety, leadership, shared decision-making, and well-being. These standards must be integrated into the facility’s practices, policies and culture. Nurses within the organization validate the presence of the criteria through participation in a voluntary, confidential online survey.
“As a Pathway to Excellence® designated organization, CarolinaEast is committed to creating an environment where nurses excel and feel valued,” stated Jim Davis, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at CarolinaEast Health System. “Earning and maintaining this designation is a testament to the entire CarolinaEast Team and the culture we share every single day. We are beyond proud of our stellar nursing staff here.”
The Pathway to Excellence® designation is desired by health care organizations around the world and CarolinaEast Medical Center is one of five in North Carolina. For more information on the Pathway to Excellence® designation visit https://www.nursingworld.org/pathway
