It doesn't take long to realize that CarolinaEast is dedicated to giving our registered nurses every opportunity to advance. From comprehensive internships for our new grads to an abundance of CEU and educational opportunities for experienced nurses—we want to give our RNs the tools and support they need to reach their full potential.
Clinical Advancement Program
CarolinaEast also offers a Clinical Advancement Program that affords our RNs the opportunity to advance their skills and knowledge base. The program is designed to encourage registered nurses to assume accountability for their practice and career development.
We are proud of the dedication and commitment our staff has shown to becoming experts in their fields. Over 50 CarolinaEast RNs have obtained certifications in their specialty areas, including:
- Certified nurse midwife (CNM).
- Certified medical-surgical nurse (CMSN).
- Oncology certified nurse (OCN).
- Critical care registered nurse (CCRN).
- Certified rehabilitation registered nurse (CRRN).
- International board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC).
- Certification for emergency nursing (CEN).
- Sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE-A).
- Certified nurse operating room (CNOR).
- Cardiac surgery certification (CSC).
- Certified perianesthesia nurse (CPAN).
- Certified registered nurse first assistant (CRNFA).
- Certified occupational health nurse (COHN).
- Certified infection control nurse (CICN).
- Certified gastroenterology registered nurse (CGRN).
Scholarship opportunities are extended based on the needs of the organization and may be extended to employees as well as non employees. These opportunities primarily target clinical areas such as nursing, pharmacy and therapy. They do require a work commitment upon graduation.
Educational assistance is for current employees who want to further their education in a field related to positions available here at CarolinaEast. This allows for broader career options within CarolinaEast and, even more importantly, personal growth.
Our education department is an AHEC (Area Health Education Center) location for eastern North Carolina. As new employees begin their career here at CarolinaEast, the education department gets them off on the right foot with Organizational Orientation and Here to Serve—but they don't stop there! The department works closely with clinical managers and preceptors to provide an excellent clinical experience for students, externs and new grad RNs. For our experienced clinical employees, they provide opportunities such as CPR, ACLS and PALS certifications and recertifications; Precepting Skills; Advanced Fetal Monitoring; and Advanced Stroke Life Support—just to name a few. Many of these courses are offered to employees at no cost to them! Our nonclinical personnel can take advantage of CPR for Nonclinical Employees, Communication Skills, and Medical Terminology classes as well as other workshops and seminars.
