What is My CarolinaEast Care?

My CarolinaEast Care is a secure, private portal designed just for you. It's like having your own personal health assistant. Staying healthy begins with staying informed and connected to your health information - anywhere, anytime.

How do I sign up for My CarolinaEast Care?

Provide patient registration with your email address so that we may communicate with you electronically and enroll you in My CarolinaEast Care. If you opted not to take part in My CarolinaEast Care at your last visit, or if the online portal was not yet in place at the time of your most recent visit, simply call Patient Registration at 252-633-8770 to receive your email Invitation with log-in instructions and access code.

What features are available on My CarolinaEast Care?

Through your browser on a computer, tablet, or smart-phone, you can:

  • View your hospital or emergency discharge information per visit

  • View some lab results

  • Find a doctor

  • Access online bill pay for your convenience

How do I complete enrollment?

Be sure to check the email account you provided during enrollment. You will receive instructions in an email invitation within 24 hours of enrolling.

Simply click on the link provided in the email to verify your personal information. To protect your privacy, the access link will expire in 90 days.

You will be asked to create a username and password to setup your account. Please store this information in a safe place. The username and password will be required each time you login to the portal.

What if I didn't receive my invitation email?

Please check your spam or junk mail folders in your email account. If you still cannot find it, simply contact CarolinaEast Patient Registration at 252-633-8770 to verify your email address.

What if I have forgotten my password?

Retrieving your password can be performed online. When attempting to login, simply click on "Forgot Password." Type in your email address and the words displayed for verification.

Upon successful verification, you will receive an e-mail containing a link and a few steps to reset the password. The password can be reset within one hour of receiving the email.

How do I find my health information?

Once you are signed in, click on "Health Record" to access your health information.

What type of health information is displayed in the "Health Record"?

The following information is displayed as recorded by your last visit to CarolinaEast:

  • Medications

  • Immunizations

  • Current Allergies

  • Health Issues

  • Lab Results

  • Performed Procedures

  • Documents (hospital or emergency discharge information such as patient education material)

  • Visit Care Summaries

What is a Visit Care Summary?

A summary of your basic demographics, medications, immunizations, allergies, health issues (known as problems), lab results, procedures and vital signs per each visit with CarolinaEast that can be downloaded and sent to another provider or third party.

Why can't I see my full historical medical record?

Over time we have been able to use new tools to store patient reports in our computer systems. Older records were not stored in a computer system. For this reason, My CarolinaEast Care will display details only from visits made to our facilities since the launch of the portal in March 2014.

What if I have a clinical question?

Please contact the facility at which you had treatment or services performed to verify information and receive clarification. You may visit Find a Doctor to see a listing of all providers and hospitals.

What if my health information is inaccurate?

You can request changes to your medical record by completing A Request for Amendment of Protected Health Information and returning it to:

What if I would like a hard copy of my full record?

A full copy of your entire medical record can be accessed by completing the Authorization for Use/Disclosure (Release) of Protected Information and returning it to:

How is my information protected?

Your health information is protected by all applicable State and Federal laws. In addition, My CarolinaEast Care uses the latest security technology to keep your health records safe.

Who has access to my online health information?

Only you can have access to your health information. You may grant permission to a caregiver or family member to also view your information. In the future, you will be able to securely transmit your health information to other health providers.

How do I know who has viewed my health information?

When logged into the portal, hover over the settings icon in the top right corner. You will notice an option to "Access Logs." When clicked on, you will see a detailed account of what was accessed, when, and by whom. These logs are made available due to Federal guidelines related to "Meaningful Use."

Can I see my child’s medical information?

Health information for patients under the age of 18 is not available via the patient portal. For health information related to children under the age of 18 please contact health information services.

What health information can I download?

You may download any files located in the "Documents" section of the portal. In addition, you may download a visit care summary in the "Download" section of the portal. These files typically become available upon any hospital or emergency visit discharge.
