The mission of the CarolinaEast
Foundation is to: Promote health in our region, Support the healthcare
community and Assist individuals with healthcare needs. The Foundation was established in 1996 as a
501 (c) 3 nonprofit foundation. The Foundation extends the gift of wellness to
individuals, families and other nonprofit healthcare organizations in Craven,
Jones, Pamlico, Onslow, and Carteret counties by offering financial assistance
to help those challenged with unmet health care needs. Since 1998, the
Foundation has awarded over 3.5 million dollars in grants, assistance and
support to local communities throughout the local area. The Foundation is run
by an independent governing Board of Directors, separate from CarolinaEast
Health System's, that makes decisions on providing support for unmet health care
concerns where ever the needs are greatest. Today’s health care needs are
constantly changing and the demands on individuals, families and nonprofit
healthcare organizations trying to meet these needs can sometimes be
overwhelming. The Foundation strives to help meet these needs through funding
support and grants for a variety of health care concerns and programs.
