CarolinaEast offers patient focused options to assist you with your medical expenses
- CarolinaEast Health System will gladly file your medical insurance. We are a contracted provider with Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Healthcare, MedCost and many others.
- CarolinaEast Health System has experienced patient counselors on staff to help determine if you may be eligible for Medicaid or other government assistance programs.
- If you are deemed potentially eligible for Medicaid by our patient counselors, professional staff from the Craven County Department of Social Services are on-site to assist you with your application. For your convenience, a patient counselor will assist you with setting up an appointment.
CarolinaEast offers Prompt Payment Incentives (Self-Pay)
If you are a patient who does not have medical insurance, CarolinaEast will consider prompt payment discounts. In order to be eligible for this discount you must not have any insurance or other third party payer that has already paid or from whom payment is expected.
A 20% discount is available. Please discuss this discount with your registrar or contact our Business Office at 252-633-8701.
CarolinaEast Health System’s Charity Care Program
If you have financial hardship and do not qualify for Medicaid or other government assistance programs, you may apply for our Charity Care program by contacting a Patient Counselor. To participate in the program it is mandatory that you provide supporting documentation, which include a tax return, pay stubs, credit application completion, and other information as requested by your Patient Counselor in order to complete your application timely and efficiently. The following are the requirements for determining charity eligibility. Additional information may be required.
Criteria for determining eligibility include but are not limited to:
- Income no greater than 200% of the federal poverty guideline as determined by the Department of Health and Human Services associated with family size.
- Limited assets including, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, 401k, 403b plans or other retirement plans.
- Medicaid denial or assessment that patient is not eligible.
- Patient or appropriate family member assistance with completion of Charity Care application.
- Credit application that lists the costs of routine monthly necessities and mortgage/rent payments, car, or other installment loans and credit card payments.
It is advisable for self pay patients with financial problems to bring in their prior year’s tax return or recent pay stubs prior to the service date or on the day of service. Please contact the Business Office or Registration in advance for more information and assistance.
