Insurance and Financial Counseling
CarolinaEast Health System will gladly file your medical insurance. We are a contracted provider with Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Tricare, MedCost, Multiplan, and others. We will submit claims to all insurance plans, however patients should check with their insurance company regarding prior approval and possible out of network rules.
CarolinaEast has experienced patient counselors on staff that are ready to help you with financial matters whether establishing a payment plan or an eligibility determination for Medicaid or other government assistance programs. Additionally, and for patient convenience, if you are deemed potentially eligible for government assistance by our patient counselors, staff members from the Craven County Department of Social Services are on-site to assist you with your Medicaid application.
Insurance Company Rules
Most payers have policies such as prior approval and benefit determination for scheduled services which must be completed prior to your visit. Please check with your physician and insurance company prior to receiving scheduled services. Sometimes you may be financially responsible if these rules are not followed. This generally does not apply to Medicare beneficiaries. It does apply if you have a Medicare replacement plan.
Medicare Replacement Plans
If you selected a Medicare replacement plan you do not have regular Medicare and must follow your payer’s rules. Please give the payer information to your physician’s office and to our registrar. Failure to do this may make you financially responsible for your services.
