CarolinaEast Medical Center, the flagship of CarolinaEast Health System, is located at 2000 Neuse Blvd. in New Bern, NC. CarolinaEast Diagnostic Center and CarolinaEast Surgery Center are located adjacent to each other in McCarthy Square in New Bern. CarolinaEast Primary Care is located on Farm Life Avenue in Vanceboro, NC. CarolinaEast Rehabilitation Hospital is located adjacent to the Medical Center on Neuse Boulevard in New Bern. CarolinaEast Heart Center has offices on Newman Road in New Bern and Bridges Street in Morehead City, NC.

How large is CarolinaEast Health System?

CarolinaEast Medical Center is a 350 bed, multi-facility health care provider serving the entire coastal North Carolina region. How can I find a doctor to care for me and my family?

The physicians who serve on the medical staff of CarolinaEast Health System are primarily all associates of private practices. We are pleased to assist you in finding a doctor through our "Physician Finder Line" service, 252-633-8102. How do I send mail to a patient?

To mail a card or greeting to a patient at CarolinaEast Health System, please address as follows: (Patient Name and Room Number - If Known) CarolinaEast Medical Center P.O. Box 12157 New Bern, NC 28561 Our Gray Lady and Lad volunteers will deliver the mail to your loved one. Any mail that arrives after a patient is discharged will be forwarded to the home or returned to sender.

How do I send flowers to a patient?

Flowers can be enjoyed by our patients in all rooms other than critical care areas. The florist will bring the flowers to our volunteers for delivery to your loved one. If flowers arrive after patient discharge they will be returned to the florist for delivery to the home. If you order flowers through one of the Internet/On-line services, we will deliver the flowers as soon as possible. Should these flowers arrive after a patient is discharged, we will contact the patient to return to the Medical Center to pick up the flowers. If we are unable to reach the patient or the patient chooses not to return, the flowers will be returned to the On-Line florist or shared with another patient.

How do I get a copy of my medical record?

Privacy regulations mandate that we take every precaution to protect the sensitive information contained in your medical record. In order to obtain a copy, you must visit our Health Information Services Release of Information on the first floor of the Medical Center. These Medical Records professionals will walk you through the steps necessary to get a copy of your record. Release of Information forms and photo identification will be required and there is a per page charge for the copies. For more information, call 252-633-8770.

Who do I contact if I have a concern about my care - either before or after I leave the hospital?

If you have ANY questions or concerns about your care while you are our guest, we ask that you speak with your nurse/patient care provider or the manager of your patient care area right away. We want to know immediately if we need to adjust our approach to your care. The Nursing Supervisor and the Patient Relations Manager can also assist with resolution of any concerns you may have. Please ask the staff to contact these individuals if you feel it is necessary. If you have a question after your hospitalization, please call our Patient Relations Office at 252-633-8177 for assistance and to facilitate resolution. In the interest of preserving and protecting confidentiality, you are encouraged to contact the Patient Relations Office about your concern and avoid using this website to post specific information about your concern.

I'm interested in volunteering. Who do I call?

CarolinaEast Health System is supported by over 400 wonderfully caring and compassionate volunteers. And, we are always looking to recruit more of our neighbors to join the ranks of our volunteers. Please call our volunteer office at 252-633-8127 for information. You will need to fill out an application (available on this web-site under the Career Center/Volunteers link), pass a background investigation and complete a day-long orientation. We could not do what we do so well without our volunteers. We would love for you to join us!

When does the Board of Directors and Board of Commissioners meet?

Regular meetings of the Board of Directors of CarolinaEast Medical Center will be held on the second Tuesday of each calendar month at 9:00 a.m. in the Education Building on the campus of CarolinaEast Medical Center. Regular meetings of the Board Committees of the Board of Directors of CarolinaEast Medical Center, including the regular meetings of the Planning and Building Committee, Finance Committee, and Audit and Compliance Committee, can be found by visiting "About" and Board of Directors" on this website. The annual meeting of the CarolinaEast Health System Board of Commissioners and CarolinaEast Medical Center Board of Commissioners will be held the second Tuesday of May at 9:00 a.m.
