Where is the Billing Office located?
CarolinaEast Health System Billing Office is located in the Medical Arts Complex Suite 10. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday 8:30a.m. – 5:00p.m. Our patient financial customer service representatives can be reached by calling (252) 633 - 8701. Our Cashier’s office conveniently located at the main entrance of the medical center is available to assist with you.

Will CarolinaEast Health System file my insurance?
CarolinaEast Health System will submit a claim to any medical insurance plan as a courtesy. Examples of contracted companies include BCBS, Tricare, United Healthcare, Medcost, Multiplan, etc. but we will file a claim to any payer even if it is out of network. Please review your policy carefully for admission and managed care requirements. There may also be an out of network benefit reduction, which would be a patient responsibility. Additionally, it is your responsibility to ensure that all pre-admission approval requirements have been met.

How do I request an itemized statement?
Itemized statements are sent to you automatically for outpatient services. You will receive a summary bill for inpatient services. Contact the Business Office (252) 633-8701 for an inpatient itemized statement.

Do you accept debit/credit card payments?
We accept MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. You may present your card at our Cashier’s Office located just inside the main entrance of the hospital or complete the credit card section on your billing statement. You may also call our customer service line at 252-633-8701 and we will process your payment over the telephone.

What if I am unable to pay my balance in full?
Please discuss with your registrar or contact the Business Office (252) 633-8701. Payment plans may be referred to an outside company for processing. This company may contact you to set up a payment plan.

Is financial assistance available?
Yes, please see a Patient Counselor in the Business Office or the Cashier’s office. If you are not eligible for Medicaid or other governmental assistance, your medical expenses may be reviewed to determine if they are within guidelines set forth by CarolinaEast Health System's Charity Care Program. If you do not qualify for governmental assistance or charity you will be asked to set up a payment plan.
