Internship Program

Nurse Internship Program

The Nurse Internship Program is designed to provide an optimal transition to help new graduates bridge the gap between nursing school and professional nursing.

During this program, new graduates are brought together for a Nursing Orientation, which introduces them to nursing at CarolinaEast Health System. After the initial New Grad Nursing Orientation, the nurses attend the Medical-Surgical Course, Operating Room Nurse Internship, or the Basic Critical Care Course.

As part of the Nurse Internship Program, the new graduates, regardless of whether they select the Medical-Surgical, Basic Critical Care or Operating Room Course, meet periodically throughout their first year. The meetings are designed to help new graduates network and support each other, share experiences and continue their development of knowledge and skills through educational offerings.

CarolinaEast offers a variety of opportunities for the new graduate nurse. New graduates are eligible to start their employment prior to obtaining their Board of Nursing license results if they have become certified as a Nursing Assistant II. This provides the new graduate with the opportunity to become familiar with their new environment and begin the orientation process while awaiting licensure.
