Nurses Celebrate Nurses Week By Reaching Out to the Community

Each year in May, nurses throughout CarolinaEast Health System and across the country celebrate the week designated to honor their profession and the compassion they hold for those they serve. For the second consecutive year, CarolinaEast nurses have decided to give back to the community that has supported them since the Medical Center opened in 1963.
Advancing the 2010 Nurses Week theme, Caring Today for a Healthier Tomorrow, dedicated nurses from throughout the CarolinaEast organization are coordinating a free Community Health Fair which will include free blood pressure checks, blood sugar screenings, medication education and tracking advice, diabetes education and information about numerous timely topics including mental health, heart health, maternal-child care, wound care and self-protection. The community is invited to take advantage of this opportunity and to learn more the role of the nurse in your good health and the health of our entire region.
The Community Health Fair will be held on Friday, May 7th in the lobby located just inside the main entrance to CarolinaEast Medical Center on Neuse Boulevard in New Bern. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until 2:00 p.m.
