The mission of the Foundation is to complement the medical services provided by CarolinaEast Health System and other nonprofit medical service providers; and to improve the overall health of our communities through the development of financial resources, including public and private funding sources, and the financial management of these resources.
The Foundation was established in 1996 as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit foundation. The Foundation extends the gift of wellness to individuals, families and other nonprofit healthcare organizations in Craven, Jones and Pamlico counties by offering financial assistance to help those challenged with unmet health care needs. Since 1998, the Foundation has awarded over 1.5 million dollars in grants, assistance and support to local communities throughout the tri-county area. The Foundation is run by an independent governing Board of Directors, separate from the CarolinaEast Health System, that makes decisions on providing support for unmet healthcare concerns where ever the needs are greatest. Today’s healthcare needs are constantly changing and the demands on individuals, families and nonprofit health care organizations trying to meet these needs can sometimes be overwhelming. The Foundation strives to help meet these needs through funding support and grants for a variety of healthcare concerns and programs.
